š°ļø First created in 1650, wine bottles were made from blackish-green glassĀ ā strong enough to transport wine and dark enough to protect it from light.
ā±ļø These bottles soon replaced earthenware and stoneware jugsĀ that once ferried wine from cask to table.
šļø Many early glass bottles mirrored pottery designsĀ ā some had handles and seals, earning them the title of servingĀ or decanter bottles.
š Glass sealsĀ ā circular glass pads impressed with a metal stamp ā were popular from the mid-17th century, often carrying:⢠š· Name of the tavern⢠𧾠Initials of merchant or drinker⢠š Dated stamps (Earliest: 1657)
š Personal sealing declined after 1835Ā with mechanised branding taking over.
š Over the next 150 years, bottle shapes evolved:⢠Shaft-and-globeĀ ā”ļøā¢ Squat domesĀ ā”ļøā¢ Cylindrical shapesĀ ā which could now be stackedĀ for aging (š· known as binning) and to keep corks moist for preservation.

š Today, with a capacity of 200+ tonnes/day, Jagrat GlassĀ manufactures:⢠𧓠Flint & Super Flint bottles⢠š¤ Amber bottles⢠š Green bottlesFor the Alcobev industryĀ across the globe.
