We are all feeling the heat of the second wave of COVID - 19. It has taken a toll on us all emotionally, physically, and economically. Nonetheless, a little-observed fact has been that this pandemic has also indirectly increased the burden of plastic waste.
The plastic waste burden was already an eyesore in form of landfills and spread ubiquitously in beaches, mountains, and the oceans. Now it has skyrocketed due to the dumping of biomedical waste like disposable masks, gloves, PPE kits, plastic sanitizer bottles, etc.
It is an open secret that biomedical medical waste - mostly consisting of plastic - is not disposed of properly and most of it ends up in oceans and landfills.
However, these are essential medical supplies whose demand cannot be curbed. What we can curb is our use of plastic bottles, whose consumption increases especially in summers. Moreover ,due to the low recycling ratio, plastic bottles often end up in waste landfills, choking the drains, and mortally damaging our ecosystem and biodiversity.

It is in this light, that a simple habit can have a far-reaching impact. LET US SWITCH FROM PLASTIC TO GLASS BOTTLES
Glass bottles do not carry such an environmental burden, which are associated with plastic bottles. They are infinitely reusable, free of BPA, and add to the beauty of our home where we have to stay for a while.

LET US DITCH PLASTIC.
